Multifunction Totem: One of our types of Microarchitecture that we call “Minimal Landscape”
Among the Microarchitectures proposed by CITILAB, the Minimal Landscape was conceived as a modular extension of the Tactile Panel intended for all users, to be easily placed both outside, such as in public space or in parks, gardens, courtyards of the places for which it is intended, and inside buildings.
CITISLAB proposes this installation where, in addition to the panel, other functions or services are to be added: an information apparatus that integrates what is contained in the touch panel, a touch screen, a seat with or without a tabletop, a charging point for devices, a container for greenery; but also, more simply, the vertical wall of the Totem can be characterized by a cut, a hole or a window through which a perceptual experience of selected observation of a particular glimpse is proposed.
This Microarchitecture Minimal Landscape is thus definable as an “evolved” Totem in that it is characterized by being multifunctional: an aggregating center of functions that are normally dispersed and fulfilled by different objects.
The conceptual core is represented by the tactile visuo panel that also dictates the width measurement: this is for the purpose of offering an object that can be easily assembled, integrated, disassembled, and recyclable.
Materials and features will be related to the peculiarities of the landscape or of the urban or architectural context, to be in tune with it, to resonate in a coherent and respectful way, with the constant factor of extreme simplicity and modularity of the elements.
The Minimal Landscape Microarchitecture enters fully into the products for the different Thematic Routes (Landscape, Urban, Monumental, Museum, Technological) proposed by CITISLAB: it can be combined with the other Tactile Panels and Tactile Tables through the common thread of the Technologies, to offer amultisensory experience, accompanying and supporting any user.
In summary, CITISLAB’s Minimal Landscape Microarchitecture provides an innovative approach to combining multiple essential functions with inclusive communication.
It is therefore acultural installation narrative and inclusive, a stimulus to a new perception, a tool for redevelopment and visit support that can be an interesting solution for those who are about to propose new cultural content structured according to effective communication and rich in ethical meaning.
