Inclusive communication for a culture of sustainability and a greener world
The project “A Sequoia sempervirens for an evergreen Soroptimist International” as part of the National Centenary Project 1921-2021, announced by the National Union for the centenary of the Soroptimist International and implemented by the Soroptimist International Club of Iseo included the planting of a sequoia (Sequoia sempervirens), in memory of the first action taken more than a century ago by the U.S. founders of Soroptimist International, who gathered in Oakland to save a redwood forest and gained public support.
The redwood was placed within the municipal park of Pisogne (Bs) and was flanked by a visual-tactile panel explaining the project and the Sequoia for all users.
The artifact contains:
- The relief representation of the adult specimen of a Sequoia, juxtaposed with the human figure to give an idea of the size
- The relief representation of the leaf
- The relief representation of the fruit
- A short explanatory text in dual Italian and English languages and in Braille
- The title-motto in Italian language and Braille
- Soroptimist International logo
The panel was designed by Ivana Passamani, as a member of Soroptimist Iseo.
