Accessibility Places Freedom Conference<\/strong> at the Galileo Museum in Florence.<\/p>\n<p>Professor <strong>Ivana Passamani<\/strong> (Founder and President of CITISLAB) spoke, bringing her testimony on the <strong>contribution that university research can bring to the issues of accessibility and inclusiveness of places<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>University activities and research on the themes of inclusive communication of cultural content and values were initiated by the undersigned at the<strong>University of Brescia<\/strong> starting in 2015 and have seen the concretization, in the course of the following years, of knowledge paths accessible to all, including the blind, in strategic places in the city or in museum institutions. These achievements have always been conceived in the university environment and realized through a constant comparison with the<g id=\"gid_1\">UICI of Brescia<\/g>.<br>Thanks to these research activities and the grounding of their outcomes, it has been possible to launch the university Spin Off <g id=\"gid_2\">CITISLAB Comunicare Itinerari Sensoriali<\/g>, which deals with inclusive communication of cultural content and values. Working on inclusivity has coincided and still coincides with a strong push towards constant cultural innovation.<br>The contribution will focus in particular on three significant case studies realized through virtuous collaboration between universities, institutions and cultural or service associations.  <\/p>\n<h3>The Castle for All. Tactile glances from the Cidnaeus <\/h3>\n<p>This cultural pathway was launched in 2022 thanks to the initiative of service clubs. The <g id=\"gid_0\">Brescia Leonessa X Giornate<\/g> Lions Club, together with several Lions clubs and the <g id=\"gid_1\">Friends of the Cidneo Committee<\/g> entrusted the undersigned with the conception and scientific coordination of an inclusive route on the <g id=\"gid_2\">Brescia Castle<\/g>. The entire ideational activity was accompanied by constant discussion with representatives of the UICI of Brescia and with the National Federation of Institutions for the Blind of Rome.<br>It was planned to create a path of knowledge of the Castle usable by all, including the blind and visually impaired, with a view to adhering to the principles of Design for All. Through the installation of seven <strong>visual-tactile panels<\/strong>, experiences were proposed to get to know the landscape, urban space and architecture of the Castle, presented both in its relationship with the views, the city and its monuments and as a historical-monumental complex.<br>.  <\/p>\n<h3>The city of memory in the capital of culture: knowledge and enhancement of Brescia&#8217;s Vantiniano Cemetery&#8221;<\/h3>\n<p>The analysis, survey and enhancement of the <strong>Vantiniano Cemetery<\/strong> of Brescia were the subject of the research contract between the <strong>Municipality of Brescia<\/strong> &#8211; Administrative Coordination and Cemetery Services Sector and <strong>DICATAM<\/strong> (Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture, Territory, Environment and Mathematics) of the University of Brescia. Inside the Vantiniano, Italy&#8217;s first monumental cemetery (1815), five cultural visit routes were conceived and designed, proposed according to the criteria of accessibility for all.<br>Inclusive communication was pursued through seven tactile panels: two tactile panels with general plans were placed at the entrances to the site, while five tactile panels present the different thematic routes for the enhancement of the site. Again, the comparison with the UICI of Brescia was constantly pursued.  <\/p>\n<h3>Everything makes sense. Representation methodologies for museum and artwork accessibility. <\/h3>\n<p>The cultural itinerary is the result of a research contract between <strong>DICATAM<\/strong> (Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture, Land, Environment and Mathematics) of the University of Brescia and the <strong>Diocesan Museum Foundation of Brescia<\/strong>, and was conceived with constant discussion with the UICI of Brescia.<br>An initial study of the monumental complex that houses the Diocesan Museum resulted in documentation from an architectural point of view as well as from a formal and distributive point of view, translated into two tactile panels with the floor plans of the two levels (+1 and -1), and a tactile table with the ground floor plan flanked by the 3D model of the building. To communicate its location embedded in the dense urban fabric, a visual tactile skyline panel was also proposed.
